How to Make Matcha Pancakes

This one may seem a little odd but trust us, these pancakes taste delicious! The taste of tea is not overpowering, it is just another flavour that harmoniously fuses together to create a tasty pancake.

Plus, this recipe we’re about to show you is pretty damn easy to make. It’s one of those recipes that there’s no excuse not to make. So, let’s get to it!

  • 1 banana (always good to use the slightly unloved ripe one, don’t let it go to waste)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of matcha
  • 1 scoop of regular protein powder (we are advocates for vanilla here at Matchaletic, but chocolate will do fine)
  • 1 tspn coconut oil

Put the banana into a mixing bowl along with the 2 eggs. Grab a whisk and beat it senseless until most of the banana isn’t in really big chunky pieces. It’s okay to have some larger pieces, this bit is pretty much up to you. Add the matcha and protein powder next and give it another good whiskin’. Next, warm up a pan and throw on the coconut oil (around 1 tspn). Pour on a good blob of the mixture and let it cook for a couple of minutes. To check if that side is done, get a spatula and check the edges. If the pancake comes away from the pan nicely, give it a good flip! If not, let it cook a bit longer. Repeat the process for the other side and until you have used up the mixture. There you have it, utterly tasty protein infused matcha banana pancakes. Bit of a mouthful but I’m sure your gut will thank you, especially if you then add a selection of berry goodness to go with it.

  • Maple Syrup
  • Honey
  • Berries such as blueberries, raspberries & strawberries (all great for you due to being full of antioxidants and their high vitamin C content)

Why not give them a go and let us know how they were and let us know what you put on top of your pancakes!
