Matcha Shake and Smoothie

When it comes to healthy foods and drinks matcha green tea is definitely up there with the best. In comparison to healthy vegetables such as broccoli or spinach (when looking at their antioxidant content) it’s miles ahead!

Studies have also shown that drinking matcha and combining this with regular exercise is an even more effective way to burn fat. Pair this with the sustained focus from its caffeine content, and you’ll be hitting your new PB’s in no time! This doesn’t mean that it’s a substitute for hard work though unfortunately, you’ll still need to put the work in.

ON THE GO

When it comes to drinking matcha we love to drink it cold with a dash of lemon. Why? Well that’s because it’s quick, easy and very refreshing. Another one of our favourite ways to add it to our diets is by simply implementing it with our protein shakes. Again, if you’re strapped for time and want that boost of energy before your workout, matcha powder is a great little addition. The powder is just as easy as regular protein to mix with water so you’ll be all set to go in a jiffy. With this is mind, we thought we’d share a recipe for when you’re on the go.

PRE-WORKOUT SHAKE

Total Prep Time: 2 mins.

  • 1 scoop of your regular Protein (tastes delicious with vanilla)

  • A few ice cubes

  • 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder

  • A good squeeze of ½ lemon

POST-WORKOUT SMOOTHIE

Total Prep Time: 5 mins

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk

  • 1/2 cup ice

  • 1 scoop of your regular Protein (tastes delicious with vanilla)

  • 1 banana

  • 1 teaspoon matcha green tea powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon maple syrup
